Compelling original work often spends long periods between exhibitions, inside studios, or in storage. Meanwhile, many people want to live with original art but find the traditional path to discovering it difficult to enter.

A note from the founder
I created Parlo because too much meaningful artwork remains unseen between exhibitions or stored away, while many beautiful spaces are waiting for work with a story and a human connection.
I’m personally welcoming Parlo’s first artists and helping them prepare their initial collections. If you are curious but not ready to create an account, I would be glad to speak with you and answer your questions.

The practical details.
Does it cost anything to join Parlo?
There is currently no fee in Parlo to create an artist profile or list artwork. Each work has its own monthly placement price, which is used when a placement is requested.
How do artists earn through placements?
Artists set a monthly placement price for each listed work. For each successful monthly payment, Parlo calculates the artist allocation after its configured platform fee. Artists complete Stripe Connect payout setup before they can approve a paid placement.
When are placements paid?
After an artist approves a request, Parlo collects the first monthly payment. When the artwork is marked as handed off, Parlo starts recurring monthly billing. Later artist earnings are recorded one successful monthly payment at a time, rather than all at once for the requested duration.
Do I retain ownership of my artwork?
Yes. Parlo’s Terms state that Parlo does not take ownership of artwork listed by artists unless expressly stated otherwise.
Can I decline a placement request?
Yes. Placement requests begin in a pending state and the artist decides whether to approve or decline each one.
How are placement dates determined?
A requester selects a placement duration of at least three months and proposes a start date. The monthly price, selected duration, and placement charges are shown to both the requester and artist. The artist reviews these details before deciding whether to accept.
Who handles transportation and installation?
Parlo records shipment and return details in the placement workflow, but does not provide a standard transportation, delivery, installation, pickup, or return service. The people involved should confirm the practical arrangements for the individual placement before handoff.
How is an artwork’s condition recorded?
Before an artwork is marked as shipped, Parlo requires a current condition image. A return request also includes a current image, so the outbound and return records can be reviewed together. Parlo records these materials; it does not provide insurance or make condition determinations.
Can a listed artwork remain available for sale?
Parlo is built around placements and does not currently provide a public artwork-sales workflow. You can remove an available work from circulation before accepting a new placement request; active placements remain unavailable for new requests.
Can I pause or remove an artwork?
Yes. Artists can remove work from circulation and restore it later. A work cannot be removed while it is part of an active placement or exchange workflow.
What types of artwork can be listed?
Parlo is intended for original physical artwork. Artists confirm that a listed work is tangible and original; work must also be marked ready to hang before it can receive a placement request.
Where is Parlo currently available?
Artists may create profiles and showcase work without Parlo being presented as exclusive to one region. Placement availability and transportation arrangements may depend on the location of the artist, artwork, and client.
What happens after I register?
Choose or confirm the Artist role, complete your artist profile, add your first artwork, and publish it into circulation. From there, you can receive and review placement requests individually.
What does Founding Artist status mean?
It is an invitation to Parlo’s early artist community and a chance to receive personal help with your first listing. It is not a separate product role or placement guarantee.
